With a name like Tomorrow’s Ours to inspire their determination and creativity, it’s no big surprise that this 5-piece pop punk/screamo band from Fredericksburg is hitting VA with an intense energy. They’ve been together as a full band for less than a year (although they did try their fate as an acoustic act for about four months before that) and don’t plan on quitting anytime soon. “We all wanna be successful, we all wanna do this for the rest of our lives…” says guitarist Derrick with a hopefulness and tenacity that’s kinda endearing.
Even though their influences are pretty diverse (ranging from pop punk to classic rock to metal), Tomorrow’s Ours has managed to unify elements from each genre to form a distinct sound that lends to their appeal. For being a relatively new band in the VA music scene, they’ve got some legit shows under their belts and have shared the stage with Virginia favorites The Friday Night Boys, The Downtown Fiction, Sing Me Insomnia, In Alcatraz 1962, and Conditions. In fact, when asked what the best show they’ve ever played was, the band answered, “Our favorite show so far would have to be when we played with Conditions, just because the crowd was really interactive, it was an outside show, it was in our home town, and not to mention that Conditions is amazing. It was awesome!!!”
Besides continuing to play hometown shows (check ‘em out at Golden Monkey Tattoo in Fredericksburg – they love playing there!), you can expect a full length album from these future rock stars pretty soon, as well as some touring (hopefully by next summer). In the meantime, make sure to check out Tomorrow’s Ours on Myspace and keep supporting local.
Fun Facts about the Band:
Kathleen Allison (vocals) – She likes cheese. A lot.
Robbie Parker (guitar) – He always sleeps on the floor.
Derrick Calamos (guitar) – Cries when he laughs (always).
David Hall (bass/vocals) – Can grow a beard like a man.
George Werbacher (drums) – Likes to watch old people eat soup.
