All the cool kids know that Syke’s new compilation CD Falling Forward: Tracks from VA’s Up-and-Coming Bands is FINALLY here! This past Saturday was the first ever CD release show at the Old Firehouse in McLean, VA and, for those of you that were there, was an AMAZING event!
Falling Forward features 13 of the area’s best bands, 9 of which played the release show! Diesel Pigeons kicked things off in their spiffy attire and really set bar high. Next up was Rude Zombie from VA Beach who brought some ska to the stage, got everyone dancing and even did a Sublime cover song! Then Spark to Inferno took everyone on a trip to post-hardcore town.

Things got switched up with Under the Bridge, who played some killer punk rock tunes while the energy in the crowd continued to build. Up next was City Light Dreams from Chesapeake, VA who kept the venue sweating like a locker room. In between bands there was an intense dance off with some extra awesome people that got everyone ready for Girls Get All the Action (from Richmond) to hit the stage. They put on a great set; as did Alexandria boys Sing Me Insomnia with their pop punk melodies and The Kindness of Strangers broke it down with their crazy awesome set and amazing shout out to Syke (thanks guys!). Lastly, Rosy Likes Red finished out the evening with a tranquil and eloquent acoustic performance.
Everyone who was at the show got a free CD get yours by signing up for our mailing list! We also, of course, raffled off t-shirts including our awesome new, limited edition artist tee, buttons, stickers, and guitar pick necklaces.
If you missed this show, stay tuned to the Syke website for more details about a second CD release show in the 7 Cities’ area!
