If it’s time to switch up your play list, and you’re looking for something a little more unique, you definitely want to load it up with some Hello Conductor! This Richmond-based quartette fuses several different musical elements and styles (most predominantly rock and indie) to create a progressive sound that will keep you hungry for more.
Hello Conductor actually started as the solo acoustic project of guitarist Daniel in the early 2000’s, though they’ve only been around as a full band for around 6 months now. Oliver (vocals) and Sam (bass) were also in bands before this one - Reasons and Sana Rouge. Since their foundation, Hello Conductor has worked diligently to make a name for themselves in the Virginia music scene - they already have an EP out (Realities & Curiosities - available for free download on their MySpace), have played several shows in their hometown (including a live performance on Richmond’s Y101 radio station), and are embarking on a mini tour throughout VA, MD and NC this month!
They attribute much of their success thus far to getting to know their listeners and supporters (like Syke for starters!) and, obviously, their hard work and determination (Syke Band of the Month titles don’t come easy after all). Though Hello Conductor strives to have a completely original sound, they do turn to bands such as Emarosa and Lower Definition for inspiration when writing new music. Whatever their inspirations may be, we hope to hear lots more from these guys SOON and know you Sykesters will too!
Oh! And if you’re in the Richmond area (and even if you’re not), be sure to check Hello Conductor out live in Richmond on September 17th with our friends I Saw A Ghost and The Kindness of Strangers!
