Spending Monday night with (who else?) Hey Monday!
There's always something magical when not one but two, local bands make it big and then come back to their hometown to perform - especially when it's on a national tour. The outrageous levels of anticipation and excitement for the Jammin' Java stop of the "Let's Make a Mess Tour" were apparent as soon as the Syke crew rolled up to JJ (an hour before doors opened) to find a line all the way out to the parking lot! Stereo Skyline - from Long Island, NY - got things off to an energetic start with their mix of power-pop with a lively stage presence. Local favorites, The Bigger Lights, took the stage next with a new guitarist and drummer in tow and amidst an overwhelming crowd response and put on a great set. This Providence (from Seattle) switched things up a little with their fusion of soulful vocals and pop rock melodies and lead singer, Dan, even hopped down into the crowd for some sing-along time. Next up were The Friday Night Boys - much to the crowd's delight - and this group of local boys further cemented their place in their fans' hearts with their tight set and fun personalities. Headlining band Hey Monday rounded out the evening with an awesome (and exciting) performance including their hit "How You Love Me Now." Not only was there a ton of awesome happening onstage but also around the Syke table. We got our new Syke Monthly Mailer in and were handing those (along with a ton of other stuff) out for FREE! And as an added bonus one of our featured bands (Girls Get All the Action) were hanging out signing posters for some really lucky fans. All in all it was an incredible event and if you missed it you just might be crying yourself to sleep for awhile; but not to worry, Syke will be keeping' it real and bringing you more shows soon!
